"Retina Scan"

Retina Scan draws on two areas of interest: The experience of a person who is visually challenged (and particularly by macular degeneration), and the experience of being in a foreign environment.

The project is intended to create a 'degenerative interface;, in which digital images can not be seen in full, but only through small fragments. The images themselves were chosen from New Hybrids because of their quality to suggest unfamiliar realities. Users are then provided with the opportunity to 'scan' the small fragments in an attempt to build a single visual experience, and to assess its unfamiliarity.
